Juggling lectures, deadlines, part-time jobs, social events and maybe even a side hustle? Welcome to student life in 2025. But don’t worry some of our hard working Alumni have recommended their top apps to give you the edge before you head back!

Whether you’re trying to study smarter, manage your time better, keep your finances in check, or stay connected with your campus community, the right digital tools can make a huge difference.

We’ve rounded up the best apps for students in 2025, with options to suit different styles—and maybe a few new ones that could make a big impact so you can make an even bigger one!

Staying Organised & On Track Apps

Keep everything in one place—without losing your mind or your deadlines.

  • Notion – is perfect for students who love custom dashboards, aesthetic notes and all-in-one planning.

  • MyStudyLife – is designed specifically for class timetables, exams and assignment reminders.

  • TickTick – is a no-fuss to-do list app with Pomodoro and habit-tracking built in.

If you’re interested in more ways to use the Pomodoro technique, see Focus & Wellbeing Apps.

Study Better, Not Harder

Apps for Exam prep, memory training and creating virtual group study sessions.

  • Anki – uses spaced repetition to make flashcard learning super effective.

  • GoConqr – offers mind maps, revision charts, quizzes and study groups to get the most out of your study.

  • Quizlet – is easy to use and great for quick vocabulary and concept reviews.

Writing with Confidence

Polishing up essays, avoiding accidental plagiarism and citing like a pro quickly and easily.

  • Grammarly – checks your grammar, tone, and clarity as you type.

  • ZoteroBib and CiteThisForMe help you generate clean citations without downloading anything.

Focus & Wellbeing

Everyone needs an App. or technique for fighting burnout and finding a bit of calm in the chaos, here are our favourites.

  • Forest – keeps you off your phone by growing virtual trees during focus time. Plant a tree when you start a focus session—if you exit the app, your tree dies. It’s weirdly motivating.

  • Insight Timer – offers free meditations, sleep tools and breathwork sessions to help clear your head and be ready to tackle a new lecture with a clear mind.

  • Reflectly  – is a personal AI journaling app designed to improve mental clarity and track moods. Helping you to structure and reflect upon your daily thoughts and problems. Like a mental wellbeing support worker in your pocket.

Budget, Save & Thrive

Who desn’t want to keep more in their wallet? Well these give you just that and more besides.

  • Happy Student – combines budget tracking, getting around, decoding a new country/system, wellbeing check-ins and student offers—all in one app – currently only for UK uni students or grads heading to the UK for work post uni.
It is brilliantly tailored to students/grads who are studying/working far from home, not used to living away from home or international students looking to concentrate on enjoying life in a new country without the stress of not understanding how day-to-day life works.

  • Splitwise – is ideal for splitting bills or group trips without the awkwardness. Just less stress with shared expenses and no need to keep track of where you are up to with housemates.

  • Student Beans and UNiDAYS unlock loads of student-only discounts on everything from tech to coffee, available worldwide

  • MyAMLE – The same great deals based platform for students studying in Ireland

Connect with Classmates & Campus Life

Apps. designed for making friends and finding your people and even one designed for actually talking about the classwork!

  • Society (Android or Apple) – helps you discover and connect with on-campus clubs and societies, join events to find your student tribe. OR start your own club on campus and bring people to you!

  • Discord – hosts student-run servers for universities, modules, or shared interests—from Chemistry to K-pop. Not just for gamers poeple but if you are..well this is a no-brainer and you’re probably already in.

  • Perusall – makes your course readings interactive, allowing real-time discussion and collaborative annotation.

Final Thoughts

There’s no one-size-fits-all app—but with the right mix, your phone can become your smartest academic tool (second only to your brain, of course).

Whether you’re here for flashcards, focus, finances, or friends, the apps above are ready to support your student journey in 2025.

So go ahead—download a few, try them out and see what works best for you. Your GPA, your social life, and your sanity will thank you. Plus we are not sure how to stop building trees now in Forest so don’t mind us if we setup a dedicated phone for the building of our GUA arboreum.
