Cameron Livingstone

After a career of 12 years sailing the ocean, Cameron Livingstone MNI decided to embark a career change. Cameron started his seafaring career as a teenager working in commercial fishing fleets, before progressing to sailing as a Maritime Warfare Officer in the Royal Australian Navy.

He later sailed as a Navigation Officer aboard LNG tankers sailing between Australia and Japan.

After completing his degree in Nautical Science, Cameron started his law degree at Queensland University of Technology in 2018. After excelling academically, Cameron saw an advertisement in the QUT Law Bulletin, inviting submissions for the Global Undergraduate Awards.

Cameron submitted his administrative law paper about the ‘bias rule’ amongst executive decision-makers in Government.

Cameron’s paper won the Law Category of the Global Undergraduate Awards for the Oceania region, an achievement he is very proud of.

What do you attribute the award to?

I attribute this award to the excellent teaching from QUT Law and QUT Associate Professor Anna Huggins.

Cameron what would your advice be to other students?

Trust that the education you’ve received is world class. Have faith in the teachers around you, and never doubt your own ability on the world stage.
